Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. Just bare with me for twenty five more of these. Because there’s so many characters in this game, I’ve lost track.
This battle simulator is all Batman this time. He started off at a level 7 playing on the very easy mode.
Having played both Injustice games, I can say that I’m not good at playing with Batman. Of course, you have to play as him quite a lot in both games. Though, to be fair, I punished myself by picking him in the last choice in the second game. I explain a little bit below, but I just cannot get a handle on making his combat flow.
Fight 1: Raphael
At least, thematically, it made sense to start in the Bat Cave for once. I still don’t appreciate that I have to start every battle simulator here, but at least Batman fits in.Apparently, Batman knows the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. At least, that’s what seems to be implied from the character banter before the fight. I understand that Batman has definitely met and dealt with interesting characters, but TMNT and Batman really don’t seem to go together.
As far as the fighting, there were issues with combat. That’ll be a common theme, but I will say that I did get a little better the longer I played. I will say that for all of these, it’s been a long time between game sessions, so I’m rusty on most of them for the first few fights.
Raphael attempted a super move, which I blocked. Threw out my super move to finish the fight and Batman leveled up to level 8.
Fight 2: Gorilla Grodd
The fight took place at the Joker’s Playground. I will honestly say that I don’t understand why this is even a level stage at all. Thinking back, this level is used for one fight in the main game and barely has thematic reasons for it. I love the colors and design of the stage. I just don’t get it as a level for this game, other than for the Joker to put a requisite appearance in the game. So, comparatively, Batman’s attacks seem very weak. I get the reasoning. He’s just a normal person who has trained himself to the limits and supplements his fighting with gadgets. Here, he’s fighting against a gorilla with telekinesis and telepathy (maybe?). Of course he’s going to be weaker.
I still defeated him with a super move and ended the fight.
Fight 3: Scarecrow
The fight started at the Rock of Eternity in Kahndaq and moved to Black Adam’s palace. The fight had a challenge attached to finish the fight in under 70 seconds. I finished it in 64 seconds. Thankfully, level transitions don’t have the timer still going while they are happening. There was a few seconds that I didn’t think I was going to complete the challenge because I went off the rails in the second half of the fight and couldn’t hit Scarecrow efficiently.
I don’t know if it’s because I have attempted to play Arkham Asylum (which is a whole different story in badly playing a video game), but I couldn’t get Batman to connect his attacks together. I have a feeling that it’s just a different play style and it’s not going to be as fluid as more open world games, but I feel that the attacks could have flowed a little better. To be fair, that’s probably on me. I have difficulty between his normal attacks and his gadget attacks. His gadget attacks lose the flow for me, but I understand why it exists in the game.
The super move finished the fight.
Fight 4: Black Adam
The fight started at Memorial Station and moved onto Ace o’ Clubs in Metropolis. It was here that the tides turned a little bit in my favor. I started to be able to fight okay with Batman, which is not saying much because I am still playing this on very easy. It helped that I know the environmental interactions a little better on this stage, so I could use those as well as my other attacks.
I used a super move and ended the fight.
Fight 5: Cheetah
This one took place at Slaughter Swamp.A challenge was attached to this fight to use 10 special moves. I had planned on ignoring this prompt because, as established, I have no clue what special moves are. Yet, I completed this challenge because I realized that special moves were not the meter burn special moves that I know I can’t do. Basically, I hit her with a lot of gadget moves.
Honestly, as with most Cheetah fights, it was a pretty simple fight. She only hit me with one environmental interaction. That’s it. She’s a mostly weak fighter, which I don’t mind sometimes. Mostly the times when I’m fighting against her.
A super move was used to end the fight. Batman moved up to level 9.
Fight 6: Wonder Woman
This fight took place in Gorilla City.I bashed Wonder Woman a lot with environmental interactions in this stage. They’re really helpful with Batman because it’s added damage without completely exposing myself. I know his character power could be helpful but I couldn’t figure out how to use it. I would activate it, get hit, and then the little blue lights went away. That’s not helpful for me.
Wonder Woman did hit me with her super move because I got cocky. Between the interactions and normal hits, I usually don’t crouch enough to block moves. Therefore, she hit me and spoiler alert: I’m not going to learn my lesson in the next two fights either. My super move did miss her though. It was weird because I activated it and then it looked like Batman just tripped over her leg and just decided to give up. I had to just finish the fight normally after that.
Fight 7: Superman
This took place in the Fortress of Solitude.I really enjoyed kicking Superman into his statue and breaking his face. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Superman. I’m not a particular fan of him in the story proper of Injustice, but I’m not a huge fan of most of the iterations of the characters in the game.
As I mentioned above, Superman got me with his super move. I was punching and couldn’t crouch fast enough because I backed him into the edge of the level.
I did get him back and used my super move to end the fight.
One thing I had been noticing about Batman’s taunt after the first health bar was down. If he is on the left side of the screen, his taunt is really faint. I want to say it’s a fault of the game and not my headphones because everything else sounded fine. Just his taunt was a whisper. Not that I needed to hear it, but it was just bizarre.
Brainiac did hit me with his super move while I was mid-punch. That ended up knocking me down to one health bar, when I had been doing so well against him. I used my super move against him and ended the fight.
Overall Score: 984,683
Another challenger that doesn’t make the top five. I did kind of think I would at least break one million with Batman, but I should’ve known when other characters I’ve done well with haven’t broken that number either.

Fight 8: Brainiac
I did okay for the first half of the fight. Very few hits on me and pounded him. Then he started with his stupid lasers. It doesn’t matter if I crouch, that stupid laser beam is hitting me until it decides to stop. One thing I had been noticing about Batman’s taunt after the first health bar was down. The Ending
Batman’s ending seems weird. It seems like they mashed two separate ideas together and just hoped it made sense. The stuff with the President asking for aid, was that to Bruce or Batman? Because the art didn’t show either one. Then there’s the stepping back from the Justice League, which actually makes sense. I have some issues with Harley being shown as part of the League, but I discuss that in further detail over on her battle simulator ending. Then it randomly cuts to Batman working on kryptonite to keep Superman away when he inevitably escapes again. I don’t understand how Batman doesn’t get that kryptonite isn’t the solution here because he hasn’t used it correctly in the previous stories either.Overall Score: 984,683
