Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. Because if there’s anything someone would want to do, it’s read about someone playing a video game. Not even watching them play it, just reading what they did.
Our focus today is on Sub-Zero in the Advanced Battle Simulator. I know that I know very little about the world of DC, but I know absolutely nothing about Mortal Kombat except that it has brutal fatalities. Therefore, every single character opening where he mentions Lin Kuei (I had to look that up), I had no clue if that was good or bad.
I started with a level 3 Sub-Zero and fought this on the very easy mode.
Fight 1: Wonder Woman
As I mentioned in the Hellboy review, every single battle in the novice simulator starts in Slaughter Swamp. I know I’ve only done two of these, but I feel every single one of these simulators is going to start in the Brother Eye section of the Batcave.Sub-Zero was very easy for me to figure out his move set. His attacks actually do decent damage. I messed around with his character power, which is the ice klones. I still mess up with them sometimes, as I don’t always seem to form them without immediately breaking them.
Wonder Woman got a few hits in with her lasso, but I defeated her with a super move.
Fight 2: Cheetah
This one took place in the Power Core section of the Red Sun Prison. I’ve mentioned that Cheetah is typically an easy fight, but she actually got a few hits in. She managed to not let me switch sides to hit a transition. She wasted her super move by activating it after hitting me in the air, but I’m okay with not getting hit with it.Her battle had a challenge attached, which was to use the character power once, which was good for practice. Again, luckily his is easy, so I managed to actually have it be useful. I finished her off with a super move and leveled up to level 4.
Fight 3: Black Manta
The fight took place at the Ace o’ Clubs Bar in Metropolis. This one was an easy level transition straight off to Memorial Station. Honestly, the fight with Black Manta was fairly easy. I only had one major hit at the beginning of the fight and then beat him down. I didn’t manage to get a super move in on him to finish, so there goes points.Fight 4: Red Hood
The fight started in Black Adam’s Palace in Kahndaq. This also had a challenge attached, which was to land seven medium attacks. Now, I can never remember which button corresponds to light, medium, and heavy. So I end up mashing until the little bar at the bottom hits the required number. The problem with these challenges is that I get so wrapped up in trying to fulfill the requirements. That means that I don’t fight as well as I could. Not that I can really fight great anyway, but it’s worse than usual. He did manage to hit me with his super move, as I was too wrapped up in trying to hit him into the transition. I managed to hit him into the Rock of Eternity stage after that point, but I just hate getting hit with the AI’s super move. It typically happens when I’m too wrapped up in trying to do something else, but again, that’s on me for not being better prepared.
I then proceeded to take him out with my super move and finished the match.
I leveled up to level 5.
Typically, when I fight Gorilla Grodd, he’s not a super hard fight. This one was actually a bit harder. I got wrapped up in trying to do environmental interactions, so he managed to get the first hit. He then proceeded to pummel me every so often while I was trying to hit him with anything. Somehow, even with him hitting me so much, the meter at the bottom never filled up, so I didn’t get to use a super move.
I did manage a perfect first bar on the Joker, which included the level transition to the Empire Theater. He then started figuring out hitting me, but it wasn’t horrible. I, once again, didn’t get to use a super move.
I actually got both level transitions on him, though. I usually can never manage more than one level transition per fight, but to get two was great. That was the only positive part, besides beating his ass.
He managed to knock me down to one health bar, which isn’t uncommon for him. It’s more the exception rather than the rule if I actually still have the second health bar by the end of the fight.
He also blocked my super move, which was frustrating as I always save my meter for the end of the match. That just meant I had to finish him off the old-fashioned way, but it also meant I didn’t get more points.
His ending was quite standard. I, as I stated above, don’t know anything about Mortal Kombat. The beginning of his ending didn’t make sense to me for that reason. Then it was a standard join the team, fight Superman ending. It felt very...blah.
Overall Score: 991,455
Top Five Ranking of Characters:
Fight 5: Aquaman
This fight took place in the Cell Block at Arkham Asylum. I got too distracted trying to use environmental interactions and Aquaman was able to get quite a few hits on me. The trident is super weapon, I swear. No level transition, as I couldn’t get him to stay on the correct side. I used the super move and ended the fight.I leveled up to level 5.
Fight 6: Gorilla Grodd
The fight took place in Gorilla City, which I actually felt was fitting. Very rarely do the stages actually work out like that.Typically, when I fight Gorilla Grodd, he’s not a super hard fight.
Fight 7: Joker
The fight took place in the Empire Prop Room, which is the stage I believed I’ve played least on. I only really know where the transition is, but I don’t know many of the interactables of the stage.I did manage a perfect first bar on the Joker, which included the level transition to the Empire Theater. He then started figuring out hitting me, but it wasn’t horrible. I, once again, didn’t get to use a super move.
Fight 8: Brainiac
Have I mentioned that I hate his fight? The slightest delay in attacking him can result in a chunk of your health bar being taken out.I actually got both level transitions on him, though. I usually can never manage more than one level transition per fight, but to get two was great. That was the only positive part, besides beating his ass.

The Ending
So, this ending seems to assume that Batman’s ending to the Injustice 2 storyline is the correct one, since it features Superman escaping the Phantom Zone. I know that some of the other battle simulator endings assume Superman’s to be the correct one. It honestly makes it confusing, because going forward, only one can be correct. I like the idea of having the choice, but not if you have to continue the story. That just creates an illusion of choice. But that’s for a different debate not under Sub-Zero’s ending. His ending was quite standard. I, as I stated above, don’t know anything about Mortal Kombat. The beginning of his ending didn’t make sense to me for that reason. Then it was a standard join the team, fight Superman ending. It felt very...blah.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:
- Sub-Zero (991,455)
- Hellboy (962,000)
At the end of the entire simulator, I’ll post a ranking of everyone so we can see how bad I am with some of these characters. But in the normal posts, I’ll just do a top five.
Until the next battle!
