Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. At this rate, will I ever discuss another video game? It’s the simulator that never ends.

This advanced battle simulator focuses on Aquaman on the very easy difficulty. He started the simulator at level 3.

Theoretically, Aquaman should be a character that I’m more familiar with. I’m not. I’ve never seen the latest Aquaman movie with Jason Momoa. Or Justice League. Or even Batman v. Superman where he camoes for a whole five seconds. The only exposure I have to this character is the first Injustice game, to which my only memory is that he was a decent fighter. That didn’t change between the two games.

Fight 1: Firestorm

Back at the Brother Eye level of the Bat Cave. It’s so uninspiring, but I did almost do the level transition on the stage. Firestorm kicked me back to the middle of the stage with his super move.

This fight had a challenge attached to use 8 ducking attacks. I completed this challenge with little difficulty. Also, fighting with Aquaman proved very easy. The trident is a powerful weapon in his hands. I will say, I have no clue how to use the octopus tentacle arm that he’s very fond of using as an AI.

I eventually got to flood the Bat Cave with my super move and ended the fight.

Fight 2: Poison Ivy

This fight started in the Ace o’ Clubs and transitioned over to Memorial Station in Metropolis.

This is one of those simulators where I don’t have a lot to say for the most part. Aquaman is one of those characters that’s super simple to use in a fight. Unfortunately, that means the point aspect of the game suffers when I understand how to fight with the characters.

I wasn’t able to use a super move to end the fight, but Aquaman leveled up to level 4.

Fight 3: Flash

The fight started in the Containment Center level before moving to the Power Core level in Red Sun Prison.

So, the fight started with Aquaman trying to get the Flash to see Superman’s side. They could’ve just asked him, since he’s just behind them watching the fight. Also, how Aquaman acts in later interactions really contradicts the attempt to recruit the Flash in this interaction. Aquaman’s allegiance really doesn’t make sense to me but we’ll get into that later.

No super move for this fight, just a regular punch out to end it.

Fight 4: Batman

This fight took place in Slaughter Swamp.

This fight is where I tried to see what Aquaman’s character power is. All I can tell is that it makes him very wet. It also does not last long. As per usual, I’m sure it does something actually useful, but I’m an idiot and cannot figure it out. Instead, I resorted to using the all-mighty trident, which works really well. It was another easy match, which started me thinking that Aquaman was not going to score well in the end.

I used the super move and ended the fight.

Fight 5: Scarecrow

The fight took place in Gorilla City, home of the breakable elephant.

This was another really easy match. Spoiler alert: the matches will stop being easy. Scarecrow was not a formidable opponent in this case. It’s really hard to talk about a battle when nothing noteworthy happens because I can’t discuss the minute details. I’m the quintessential button masher that gamers hate. I don’t know the moves I’m doing, just that I’m fighting and hopefully winning.

No super move to end the fight. Aquaman leveled up to level 5.

Fight 6: Superman

This fight took place in the Empire Theatre Prop Room before moving out the Empire Theatre Front in Gotham.

While Aquaman was really pushing the Flash to join Superman’s side in the earlier battle, he’s really against Superman being in charge here. It doesn’t make sense because in most of the battles, Arthur has voiced his support for Superman’s methods and decried Batman’s. Yet here, he shows no support for Superman. That doesn’t really make sense until the ending of the simulator, but in that case, he needs to be a little more neutral.

I was digging Superman’s purple color scheme in his costume. I don’t know why he’s wearing purple but it looked good. That’s one of those comic things I’m not going to understand. The fight was easy, again. Another fight, another win.

There was no super move to end the match.

Fight 7: Aquaman

This took place in the Joker’s Playground.

The fight had a challenge attached to use 5 ducking attacks. Since I already completed the challenge with a higher number of attacks, I easily completed this challenge.

I really hate fighting the AI as the character I’m using. Mostly because the AI is a way better fighter than I am. It also didn’t help that the AI was outfitted in a costume and color scheme very similar to my own. There was some trouble trying to figure out which one was my Aquaman. This could’ve been solved if there was a Jason Momoa Aquaman skin because I would be using that one forever. No, it would not come close to making sense in the logic of the game but I would love to look at him fight.

The AI was tough in this match. At this point, it was the toughest fight I had been in for the simulator. The AI is well aware of how to throw the trident and use the octopus arms against me and all I can do is take the damage.

I attempted to use a super move in the fight but the AI went airborne and I just ran across the level like an idiot. He really looked like a loser charging with his trident at no one. The fight ended normally.

Fight 8: Brainiac

This motherfucker. He is a bastard of the highest level and it is not a compliment. I was so scared that I was going to lose this fight after mostly rinsing the rest of the simulator. He got first hit with the ion cannon and then went to town with his stupid tentacle arms. How I managed to defeat him, I don’t know. Not even a standard punch, punch, crouch worked super well. He is the worst and I don’t understand how I almost failed so spectacularly with a character I can actually fight with. Forgive me for ever thinking I could understand how to fight Brainiac because it’s never happening.

The Ending

Here’s where I believe that Aquaman is the biggest chaotic force in the game. His only goal is to protect Atlantis and he’s not afraid to switch sides for whoever is going to protect it. The problem is that he seemingly has no one to tell him when he’s being a fucking moron. He sides with Superman to defeat Brainiac which makes sense since Brainiac would want Atlantis for his collection. Except Superman wanted to control Atlantis as well, since that’s part of the first game. So, Aquaman stuck by Superman’s side long enough to have him rise back into power and then realize that was a bad idea. Again. From how Aquaman phrased looking for help to defeat Superman, it sounds like the Insurgents are dead rather than imprisoned unless they plain don’t trust him. That also sounds likely because I don’t trust this Aquaman either. In what is one of the first nods to the previous game, it’s nice that someone remembers the main universe heroes who helped them defeat the Regime in the first place.

Overall Score: 900,221

What the fuck? I don’t know how I scored that low. I’ve had plenty of simulators missing super moves and getting defeated, but this is a pitiful score for how easy most of the simulator was. Look, this top 5 has some sorcery magic on it and I will never do better than these characters. I don’t know why, but here’s the eternal top 5.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:

  1. Catwoman (1,063,054)
  2. Green Arrow (1,057,829)
  3. Doctor Fate (1,040,263)
  4. Cyborg (1,030,601)
  5. Swamp Thing (1,027,787)

Until the next battle, where I just question the scoring system more.
