Played before?: Yes
Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. Writing is what all the cool kids are doing. At least, that’s what they tell me as they proceed to make actual videos. Cool kids don’t lie, right?
This simulator focuses on Black Canary played on very easy difficulty. She starts the simulator at a level 3.
Black Canary is actually a character I know about. I don’t know her actual origins and what she’s like in the actual main comic lines, but I do know about her. There’s the one on Arrow, which I’ve not actually seen Laurel become Black Canary yet, but I know that’s the end game. Then there’s the Birds of Prey one, who I adore. The Injustice Black Canary has stolen my heart and I’m really glad that the developers added her in this game. I want more Black Canary everywhere now.
Fight 1: Red Hood
In the level that never changes, it’s the Brother Eye stage in the Bat Cave. I’m really running out of ways to sell this intro to the stage.Right off the bat, I could tell that there were going to be difficult areas in fighting. Dinah does these poses, that I lovingly refer to as hand poses, in lieu of actually doing damage. It looks like she’s getting into a karate stance. I know that these poses usually translate into an attack but I don’t do timing. Or proper fighting techniques. As I always reiterate, this is not a playthrough of someone who knows their way around video games. Even though I grew up around video games.
I used a super move to end the fight.
Fight 2: Wonder Woman
This fight took place in Slaughter Swamp. The fight had a challenge attached to use 2 bounce attacks, which I completed without realizing it. I understand that the bounce attacks are in the air. I’m just not proficient at that aspect of play. What aspect am I proficient at? None. I establish that at least once a write-up.
I noticed that Black Canary is a jumpy character. She goes airborne very easily, which is not good for me. It means I can’t control her as easily because I don’t know what she’s doing. I do maintain that I learned how to reign that jumpiness the further I went in the simulator, but it’s not easy. Let us remember, I am playing this on very easy.
I used a super move to finish the fight. Black Canary leveled up to level 4.
Fight 3: Black Canary
This fight started at the Empire Theatre Prop Room before moving down to the Empire Theatre front in Gotham.I don’t know what this game’s fascination with me playing against myself is, but I don’t like it. There’s also, like, 30-something characters in this game. I think it’s possible to not play against my same character. I mostly complain because the AI is better at the character than me.
Even though I had to play against Dinah, I like that they had a nice, light-hearted exchange in the beginning. It wasn’t trying to get an upper hand or see who is better. They really just made fun of Oliver, which I am always here for.
Other Black Canary did get a super move hit on me. I should have realized that blocking is not going to block a sonic scream from above. Really, my only arsenal to not get hit by a super move is to block it. I’m not fast enough to do any other move to get away from it.
I did get to use my super move and end the fight.
Fight 4: Superman
This fight took place in Gorilla City.
I explored Black Canary’s character power here and I found it useful. Mostly because I saw the effects of it when I used it. I like the straight forward character powers because I’m an idiot. I will always maintain that idiocy when playing video games. It’s definitely self-deprecating and probably not mentally healthy, but I’m getting out ahead of the nerds that would call me out on it anyway.
It was during this fight that I realized I loved this character. I’ve stated in many other character playthroughs that I love fighting with them, but with most of those, it’s because I’m good at playing with them. I’m honestly not good at fighting with Dinah. I don’t think I understand her move set well. Yet, she is so fun to play with. The way she moves reminds me a bit of MCU Black Widow, which would make sense as to why I love Dinah’s fighting in this game. Also, where’s my Marvel fighting game ala Injustice? Come on Marvel, give me this. I want to beat up all of my favorites. (Yeah, it’s never happening.)
I used a super move to end the fight.
This was a tougher fight. Deadshot actually knocked me down to one health bar. That was because he got a super move hit against me. Somehow, blocking does not work on his super move either. That one makes less sense because the start action is hitting me with a gun. That should be blocked if I’m in the correct stance. There was probably some bullshit there, or I just need to realize that I cannot block most super moves in this game.
Eventually, I used my super move and ended the fight.
The fight had a challenge attached to use 10 special attacks. I used one and I’m honestly not sure what that attack was. It just further emphasizes the point that I have no clue what I’m doing when it comes to this game, but I mostly have fun playing it. I’m at least smart enough not to go online to play against real people.
I used a super move to end the fight. Black Canary leveled up to level 5.
As always, I don’t like lightning power people. I don’t like their little attack orbs. I especially don’t like them when I can’t avoid getting hit with them. Dinah has no gadget, no long-range attacks, and her character power can’t be used all of the time. Therefore, I get hit with his little orbs that surround him. Luckily, that’s not a lot of damage but I would rather avoid the damage if possible.
A super move ended the fight.
I got to use my super move and ended the fight.
Overall Score: 1,047,908
Oh my god. Someone has broken into the top five and I’m so happy that it’s her. I had an absolute blast playing this character and I love that the score somehow reflects that. That means we say goodbye to Swamp Thing. He’s held on for a long time here.

Fight 5: Deadshot
The fight took place in the Power Core stage of Red Sun Prison. This was a tougher fight. Deadshot actually knocked me down to one health bar. That was because he got a super move hit against me. Fight 7: Black Adam
This fight started at Memorial Station before moving to the Ace o’ Clubs in Metropolis. As always, I don’t like lightning power people. I don’t like their little attack orbs. A super move ended the fight.
Fight 8: Brainiac
I still don’t like him. I’m never going to like fighting him. The tentacle arms are way too powerful, even on very easy. Sometimes, he’s a little easier but usually not. He knocked me down to one health bar because he got a super move hit on me while I was trying to throw an interaction at him. Of course, the one time I know blocking works against a super move, I’m not in a block stance.I got to use my super move and ended the fight.
The Ending
Her ending was okay. I am grateful that she cares about her and Oliver’s kid. That’s always a plus for superheroes. Their kid was never really a factor in the story, except to mention him whenever they had to go travel somewhere. I think it would have been better to deal with Superman, since he did take her original Oliver from her. They could’ve explained the deal with how Oliver even ended up in the Injustice timeline. To just be about raising Connor felt a little disappointing because it seemed like they were reducing her role to be a mother instead of a kickass woman who is also raising a metahuman child. I don’t disparage her for it. I’ve just found that the women in the simulators have worse endings than the men.Overall Score: 1,047,908
