Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. You would think that I would’ve given up playing through this by now. Apparently, I’m stubborn as hell. Who knew? Not me.

This is Darkseid’s advanced battle simulator played on very easy. He starts the simulator at level 3.

We’re back to characters I don’t know in this game. I vaguely recall that he’s at least referenced in Batman v. Superman and Justice League but I don’t actually know. I’ve not seen either of those movies and I don’t have much desire to go watch them. For the most part, I waived between not knowing if he was a god or not. I’m pretty sure he is, which makes little sense considering the simulator I proceeded to play. Up front though, let’s just blame my poor video game skills for that.

Fight 1: Starfire

It’s off the Bat Cave we go. It doesn’t even register in my mind anymore.

This was a deceptively easy fight. I say this because the way Darkseid fought here was not how he fought in any other match I played. I could control his laser beams well. His moves did significant damage. Starfire didn’t put up much of a fight. I was at least smart enough to realize that the fight was probably too easy for not remembering how to play the character. Especially because Darkseid is a heavy fighter and I don’t have a great track record with those. Granted, I don’t know who I do have a good track record with, but I know it’s not the bigger fighters.

I wasn’t able to use a super move to end the match.

Fight 2: Darkseid

This fight took place at Slaughter Swamp.

Seriously game? I don’t understand why I keep fighting myself in these simulators. There are so many characters in this game that this concept should not be happening with such frequency. Sure, I don’t like it because the AI is obviously better at fighting with the character than I am, but it’s still a little annoying.

At this point, I wasn’t horrible at using his laser sight ability. It was definitely hitting more than it was missing which is a positive for me. This fight was slightly harder than the previous fight but not unmanageable.

I used a super move to end the fight.

Fight 3: Atom

This fight started at Black Adam’s Palace and moved to the Rock of Eternity.

Here’s where playing with Darkseid fell apart. Atom got a super move hit on me and knocked me down to one health bar. Honestly, fighting Atom is tough. I don’t understand it because he’s not in the small form for most of the match. Actually, it was when he did the stomp move that I received the most damage from him. Granted, I was a little obsessed with trying to get the level transition but it still doesn’t account for how much damage he actually wrought against me.

I eventually got to use a super move to end the fight.

Fight 4: Harley Quinn

The fight took place in the Trench Nursery in Atlantis. I very rarely ever fight here, I’ll be quite honest. The game usually picks the Command Center over this level.

There was a challenge attached to win the match in under 110 seconds. I did complete this challenge in about 55 seconds, so yay for me. The laser sight started to become less useful for me here. I started to not be able to hit my opponent no matter which laser was shot. Also, the random teleportation power was also screwing me over because I never really figured out which button was causing this. I’m guessing it’s the square button because it usually happened while I was trying to go for the level transition. Harley was, luckily, not a super difficult fight. I even managed to dodge her hyenas once. I’m way too proud of myself for that.

I used a super move to end the fight. Darkseid leveled up to level 4.

Fight 5: Black Canary

This fight took place in the Containment Center of Red Sun Prison.

I miss Black Canary. I really love her. I just spent the whole match wishing I was playing as her instead. In hindsight, the next time I ever play her, I’ll probably be horrible at playing her. That seems to be how it goes, but I still love her.

Oh, yeah, this is Darkseid’s simulator. I had been messing around with his character power, which is to summon his parademons. I don’t really know what they are but they do look kind of cool. The only thing I could figure out is that one of them explodes after an indeterminate period of time. I don’t know what the others do or even how many others there are. I think there’s three total. It wasn’t worth my play style to use them, though I’m sure they are useful in some aspects.

I used a super move and ended the fight.

Fight 6: Enchantress

This fight took place at Joker’s Playground.

There was a challenge attached to use five light attacks. I did manage to complete this challenge, but that wasn’t the real challenge in this fight. Enchantress very rarely pops up as an AI fighter in the simulator, so I can’t get a great sense of how a fight with her is going to go. Girl was really tough in this battle. She did some serious damage to me. I don’t know how to even get that much damage in a fight using her. She did manage to use her super move against me, which ended up knocking me down to one health bar. Basically, from what I can tell, Darkseid cannot take a hit. He’s a god, right? Should he be a little more invincible?

A super move was used to end the fight.

Fight 7: The Flash

The fight took place in Gorilla City.

After the last few fights, this was a bit easier. I still wasn’t letting my guard down because every hit was causing some serious damage to Darkseid. Again, I would’ve thought he would be tougher. I guess he’s more of a glass cannon fighter than a straight-up heavy fighter. I’m guessing here. I don’t actually know what I’m talking about. If anything, that’s the one thing you can count on.

The super move ended the fight. Darkseid leveled up to level 5.

Fight 8: Brainiac

I thought I was actually going to lose this match. There was a point where I thought that I was actually going to lose and thankfully, I won at the last second. I only had half a health bar left, which any tentacle move could easily take out. I was managing fine until Brainiac predictably started to use his arsenal of tentacles and lasers to hit me. I really hate those things, if that’s never been made clear. Unfortunately, they were taking out bigger chunks of my health than I thought they should have. Already going in, knowing that Darkseid wasn’t taking hits well, I probably should have played a little more carefully. That’s really not my play style though.

The Ending

I learned he’s a Superman villain, which definitely makes sense. I didn’t really learn much else from him except that he’s like every other villain and wants to take over the world/universe. I have bigger issues with what they did to Supergirl in his ending. Why in the world is she wearing the skimpiest bikini top? It literally serves no purpose in what Darkseid had done to her, which seems to be brainwashing her to fight on his side. She doesn’t need to be wearing that to fight for him. She could have just been wearing a darker colored version of her costume. Supergirl is one of the few female characters in the game that actually has a somewhat practical fighting outfit. I don’t like that they decided that she needed to be sexed up a bit.

Overall Score: 1,019,474

I’m a little impressed that he broke a million. I didn’t think that was happening. Not good enough to break into the rankings, but that’s just some weird algorithm I cannot even begin to comprehend.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:

  1. Catwoman (1,063,054)
  2. Green Arrow (1,057,829)
  3. Black Canary (1,047,908)
  4. Doctor Fate (1,040,263)
  5. Cyborg (1,030,601)

Until the next battle, where a little less damage hopefully happens.
