Released: May 11, 2017
Format: PS4
Played before?: Yes
Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. You come to read about someone good and leave because I’m quite awful at video games. There’s not even that many pretty pictures to keep your attention.
It’s another advanced battle simulator featuring Atrocitus this time. He started as a level 3 played on very easy.
I’m going to admit, I’d never heard of Atrocitus before this game. As I’ve mentioned before, DC superheroes and villains are not my strong suit. I mainly know Batman and his crew, just because they’re the most prevalent in the media. I quickly picked up that Atrocitus is one of Green Lantern’s villains, considering he’s a Red Lantern. The whole Lantern business still isn’t something I get, but I’m pretty sure after Atrocitus’ character introductions, I understand the idea of the Red Lantern.
Fight 1: The Flash
We’re in Brother Eye. Again. It’d be different if I could swing the level transition here every once and a while, but I’m not a good enough fighter for that. This fight had a challenge to not use the super move. I stupidly completed this challenge. I know super moves net more points than challenge points but I was also banking on being able to use the super move in the other fights.
Atrocitus was very easy to pick up as a fighter. He did a lot of punching. There was a lot of that rage swirl. There was the weird red stuff he sprays from his mouth. All I’m saying is that this is not going to be an interesting simulator to read about. Not that the others are vastly more interesting, but this one is going to lack a bit.
Fight 2: Captain Cold
The fight started in the Trench Nursery before moving to the Command Center in Atlantis. It made me slightly sad to hit the transition because the game rarely picks the nursery over the command center when opening the stage. This was another very easy fight. A lot of punching from me. Very little hits from him.
There was no super move to end this fight, but Atrocitus did level up to level 4.
Fight 3: Black Canary
This fight took place in Slaughter Swamp.Black Canary is a scrappy character, which I love. I don’t necessarily love it when she’s fighting against me. I’ve noticed that she's a lot tougher than most whenever I fight against her, which is fine. Except when she’s thoroughly kicking my ass.
I did manage to get a super move in and finish the fight.
Fight 4: Starfire
The fight started at the Rock of Eternity in Kahndaq before moving to Black Adam’s Palace.
This fight was easier than the previous fight. I did start to notice that whenever I did an environmental interaction with Atrocitus that involved throwing the object, he would end up throwing the object over the character’s head. That’s not really helpful, but I understand that his throw would be more powerful than a lot of the other characters who can throw objects. Did this stop me from trying to use the interactions? No.
I managed to avoid her super move, but didn’t perform mine to end the fight. It was around here I realized that Atrocitus was not getting a good score at the end of the simulator.
Once again, this wasn’t a memorable fight. Nothing was really impeding me in the fight. There wasn’t any one particular move that wasn’t helpful. Well, there is the move where he just turns glowing red, but I could turn that into a helpful move but literally doing anything else.
I used the super move and ended the fight. Atrocitus went to level 5.

Fight 5: Red Hood
The fight started at Memorial Station and transitioned to Ace o’ Clubs and actually transitioned back to Memorial Station. I was super lucky to be able to do two level transitions.Once again, this wasn’t a memorable fight. Nothing was really impeding me in the fight. Fight 6: Superman
This fight took place in the Cell Block at Arkham Asylum.
The fight had a challenge attached to use the character power twice. I have absolutely no clue what his character power does except summon a cat. Even when I’m fighting against Atrocitus, that’s all the power seemingly is. I’m guessing the cat can do something, but I don’t know what that is. So there was just a cat floating along for about half the match just so I could complete the challenge.
Superman was an actual challenge, which I welcomed a little. I don’t want every fight to be super easy. His laser eyes are a real bitch. I like them when they’re on my side, not so much when they’re against me.

This fight wasn’t incredibly hard. As usual, Black Adam’s lightning was trouble, but what’s new? Of course I still have no clue on how to deal with those attacks. I’m more interested in what’s happening on the Empire Theatre level in the background. Is an all-out war happening when you’re in the theatre front? I’m usually really focused on the fight and most every other level, minus the Ace o’ Clubs and the one inmate in the Cell Block, is devoid of people. But things are actively happening in the background of this level. The monster truck comes barrelling through on one side. Heavy artillery fire is happening on the other. What the hell is this stage and why was I so blind to it before?
Black Adam blocked my super move so the fight finished normally.
He really did only one truly damaging move to me, which was an aforementioned tentacle arm from above. Other than that, I managed two level transitions. I punched him a lot. There wasn’t much in the way of retaliation like there usually is. I don’t want to get my hopes up and then miserably lose the next fight against him.
Overall Score: 962,472
Another not great score due to the lack of super moves performed. I feel I’m getting worse the more I play the different characters.

Fight 7: Black Adam

Fight 8: Brainiac
I don’t want to give myself too much false hope, but I think Brainiac might be getting easier as a fight. Or at least, I’ve finally learned the patterns. Of course, I can’t block his stupid tenactle arms that smash from above or below, but I can punch him enough to the point they don’t happen as frequently. He really did only one truly damaging move to me, which was an aforementioned tentacle arm from above. Other than that, I managed two level transitions. I punched him a lot. There wasn’t much in the way of retaliation like there usually is. The Ending
So, not knowing anything about Atrocitus and Lantern lore, this obviously meant nothing to me. I mean, the one thing that I learned about Atrocitus is that he is fueled by rage and would love everyone else to be fueled by rage. I don’t know what the tentacle creature that protected him from the other Red Lantern’s rage was. It is nice that he learned that rage isn’t the sole emotion he can experience, that rage comes in many forms. I don’t know that I buy the ending with all of the other different Lanterns uniting. I obviously don’t know what the other colors mean, but there were definitely Yellow Lanterns at the meeting. I thought that Yellow Lanterns were also not good. Sinestro is a bad guy and it’s supposed to be bad that Hal turned to the Yellow Lanterns when he worked for the Regime. So I don’t know if they also learned compassion as well, or what.Overall Score: 962,472
