Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. We’re proving that even the smallest of fighters can pack the mightiest of punches. Oh, that was stupidly inspirational for no reason.
This is Atom’s advanced battle simulator played on very easy difficulty. He started out at a level 3.
I’m very aware that I somehow know absolutely nothing about any of DC’s cast of heroes and villains. But, I actually kind of know Atom. Except, I know the Ray Palmer version and that version is from Arrow. Based on how Arrow portrays other characters, I’m going to guess that it’s not really accurate. Particularly because as the ending reveals, Ray has a completely different backstory than the one I know. But we aren’t focused on him, this is the Ryan Choi Atom.
Fight 1: Deadshot
The fight took place in the Brother Eye level of the Bat Cave.Atom is one of those characters I have a tough time fighting against when he’s the AI opponent. His major stomp move plus his ability to go small at any moment make him unpredictable for me. While I could figure out how to use these moves, I couldn’t figure out if I was using these moves correctly.
Deadshot was relentless with his arm guns. He also was a bitch and hit me with his super move. Not a great way to start a battle simulator.
I managed to use a super move and end the fight.
Fight 2: Darkseid
The fight took place at the Empire Theatre Prop Room in Gotham.I still don’t get Darkseid’s character power. Maybe it’s because the parademon goes away if I hit Darkseid, which seems very poorly thought out. I know that some of the powers are dependent on this concept but I don’t think it works well for Darkseid. I’ve yet to see it successfully used.
Atom has a teleportation move, which turns out to be a real bitch of a move. Mostly because I never know when I activate it. Somehow, the AI does know and always manages to hit me immediately after. That’s never a good sign for me.
I used a super move to end the fight.
Fight 3: Green Lantern
This fight took place in the Fortress of Solitude. It’s always weird to me when Green Lantern is wearing a different color scheme. The characters never acknowledge this fact, which is understandable knowing the amount of unique programming it would take to recognize the various shaders unlocked for him. When he’s wearing the Yellow Lantern colors, I do feel that’s significant since that’s a major character point in both Injustice games. I only mention it because he was wearing the Yellow Lantern colors during this fight. Also, I actually know what the yellow stands for: fear. Based on the conversation and the fact I genuinely don’t know, does the green stand for courage?
When I play the simulator, I don’t pay too much attention to the progression screen past who I’m fighting and if there’s a challenge attached. It’s the time where I start writing notes for the upcoming fight. So, I never noticed that in Green Lantern’s character portrait, he’s holding a mace. Why is he holding a mace? I don’t think any other character has weaponry in their portrait. Robin might have his sword and Oliver might have his bow but no one else has their weapons. Also, that’s not even a weapon I think he uses in the game. Does this go back to more Green Lantern lore I know nothing about?
Aside from all of my questions, the fight happened. He ended up hitting me with his super move. I hit him right back with mine. Atom leveled up to level 4.
Fight 4: Batman
The fight took place in the Joker’s Playground. There was a challenge attached to use three meter burn special moves. I, in no way, completed this challenge.
There are some points in time where I feel that Batman is unusually overpowered as a fighter. I know that Batman is a highly skilled fighter but most of his damaging moves come from his grapple attack. I understand that he’s a strong fighter and a master tactician but it’s almost superhuman in this game. He’s not. Don’t force him to be one because he’s one of the uber-popular characters.
I used a super move to finish the fight.
Fight 5: Red Hood
The fight started at Memorial Station before moving to the Ace o’ Clubs in Metropolis. There was a challenge attached to use a roll escape. I’ll be honest. I don’t even know what a roll escape is, let alone how to do one. Why, yes, I am an incompetent gamer.
I got a perfect match! I, somehow, managed to pull it off. I don’t know how. I don’t know why. I can’t really fight with this character but I am going to take the win. Especially because this just spells trouble from this point on.
No super move to end the match.
Fight 6: Superman
This fight took place in Gorilla City. It’s always fun to deal with the AI and its absolute love of the elephant interaction. It was worse this fight because Superman didn’t even let me land from that. No, he caught me and then threw me to the ground. This happened at least three times in the match. It’s hard to get into a rhythm when you aren’t on the ground long enough to fight. It was not a good fight for me.
I eventually managed to use a super move to end the match.
Fight 7: Starfire
The fight started in Black Adam’s Palace before moving to the Rock of Eternity in Kahndaq. This fight was not as tragic as the previous fight. It wasn’t great because at this point, I realized that I had no clue how to use Atom’s moves. I couldn’t even really get the basic moves to hit my opponent at this point which is not a great feeling knowing who’s next in the simulator. I kept teleporting back and forth which would mess up my rhythm. Essentially, I’m a bad gamer if it wasn’t apparent enough by now.
I used a super move to end the fight. Atom leveled up to level 5.
Fight 8: Brainiac
Before the match, I was leaning toward this being a tougher match. Considering I almost lost this match, I was correct. I don’t even know what moves he really hit me with. I know that none of them were mega-tentacles but that’s not reassuring. It’s amazing the determination I put into the fights when I’m two hits from losing. I just go and hope for the best. Thankfully, it worked in my favor this time. The Ending
I hate that I end up comparing things to Marvel properties but it’s the only way I can understand what’s happening sometimes. So, what happened to Ray is kind of like what happened to Janet in The Ant-Man and the Wasp. Ray’s stuck in the subatomic realm and Janet was stuck in the quantum realm. I’m not going to comment on who did the story line first because at this point, I don’t care. I don’t want to get in the middle of which comic company is better. I like them equally, with more knowledge of one. Anyway, it’s nice that the ending didn’t have anything to do with the main storyline conflict. Ryan only defeats Brainiac as a necessity and then continues on with his attempts at freeing Ray. It’s nice and simple and so nicely devoid of superhuman in-fighting.Overall Score: 1,011,232
He doesn’t make the top five, which is okay because I’m still reeling from the fact that the last simulators shook it up so completely.
