Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. I’m glad it only took thirty six characters for me to really understand how to play this game. That’s not counting the fact that I’ve played a different battle simulator and the main story before. I’m now really starting to understand it.

This is Raiden’s advanced battle simulator played on very easy difficulty. He starts out at a level 3.

As I mentioned in Sub-Zero’s entry fifteen thousand years ago, I don’t know anything about Mortal Kombat. I’ve never played any of the games. The only thing I know for certain is that they have brutal fatalities. Throughout the simulator, Raiden talked with every character as if he’s spent a significant amount of time with them. I am aware that there was a previous game, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, but I don’t think Raiden would’ve made that much of an impact on these characters. Plus, most of the characters would have never interacted with him so the familiarity doesn’t make sense.

Fight 1: Bane

As with the previous thirty five times, this took place in the Brother Eye level of the Bat Cave.

I quickly found Raiden’s useless move. I mean, this time, I know it’s not a useless move. I would just activate at the wrong times. It’s the move that I would describe as rainbow lightning. As in he arched lightning in a rainbow shape. I can see that it’s useful if your opponent was in the air because it would help with juggling. Problem is, I never activated the move while my opponent was in the air. Me not understand how to play the game, what’s really new?

I used a super move to end the fight.

Fight 2: Scarecrow

The fight took place in Gorilla City.

As usual, I never really like fighting characters who have powerful attacks. It’s nice when they are on my side, but when they aren’t, it’s the worst. Of course, it’s logical but I don’t always like to be rational when I’m playing video games. I say this because Scarecrow used his hook to its fullest extent against me. In contrast, I used Raiden’s lightning dashes to my full advantage. I hate them when they’re used against me, but while I have it at my disposal, I’m going to be as annoying as the AI can be.

I used a super move to end the fight.

Fight 3: The Flash

The fight started at Memorial Station before heading over to the Ace o’ Clubs before returning to Memorial Station in Metropolis.

There was a challenge attached to use six jump attacks. As usual, with this type of challenge, I did not complete it.

The fight wasn’t anything special. I was able to defeat Barry with relative ease. Sure, rainbow lightning was still being a pain but I could figure out the rest of the moves. They did a decent amount of damage. Surprisingly, no complaints from me.

I used a super move to finish the fight. Raiden leveled up to level 4.

Fight 4: Green Lantern

The fight started in the Command Center before moving to the Trench Nursery in Atlantis.

There was a challenge attached to use three special moves. I actually completed this challenge once I realized that it only meant combo moves.

What emotion is teal? Because that’s the color Green Lantern appeared in for this fight. I’m guessing sadness but I don’t know if the colors follow the conventional pairings. Though, I will be honest, I don’t know what emotion green is supposed to be either. Am I even on the right track with the emotion aspect of the Lantern rings?

Here, I really did start feeling a bit confident using Raiden’s move pool. Lightning dashing was wonderful. I really don’t want to go back to facing him as an AI opponent.

A super move was used to finish the fight.

Fight 5: Blue Beetle

The fight took place at Black Adam’s Palace in Kahndaq.

When Raiden does his super move, at some point, does he say “mortal kombat” really fast? That’s what it sounds like when he summons the dragon near the end. Since I’m not familiar with the character or game, I don’t know if he might be saying something else that’s more recognizable to fans of that franchise. I’m just curious.

The fight itself was a bit tough. Blue Beetle has a good reach with the stabbing element at the end of his arm. This ends up with him stabbing me into the air multiple times. Other than that, not a bad fight.

A super move ended the fight.

Fight 6: Firestorm

The fight took place in Slaughter Swamp.

Raiden doesn’t move quickly. I mean, he lumbers toward his opponent rather than dashes. I could foresee future problems with this. Most of the characters aren’t heavy characters, which means that they can attack me quicker than I could them. A misplaced throw could spell trouble. Wait, what am I doing, talking about this like I plan my moves? I really just feared this for Brainiac because hitting him quickly is the only surefire way to not have him use his tentacles or lasers.

I used a super move to end the fight.

Fight 7: Black Manta

This fight took place in the Empire Theatre Prop Room in Gotham.

Why does Black Manta have a jetpack? All it does is cause the AI to go out of range of any normal attack. But, seriously, is there a reason that he would have a jetpack on land? I really don’t get that. Why do I have so many issues trying to learn anything about DC characters?

After an initial barrage of hits, the fight became pretty simple. As stated above, the only annoying part is when the AI decided to turn on the jetpack. You would think rainbow lightning would have been helpful here, but no. The move didn’t even reach him when he was flying.

I used a super move to end the fight. Raiden leveled up to level 5.

Fight 8: Brainiac

Okay, where did Brainiac go? Who is this imposter? Is this his descendant from the future? This is not my Brainiac aka that bitch. He did not even start fighting until he had half a health bar left. It’s not because I’m good at Raiden. I just had some decent timing with the lightning dashes that kept me in close proximity to him. As much as I bitch and moan about how much I hate Brainiac, I still don’t want him to be super simple.

The Ending

I lost the plot half way through the ending. I didn’t understand what Doctor Fate was trying to tell Raiden about the Order. Was it that chaos was going to rain down on them with Doctor Fate’s death or that it was going to be eliminated? I’m guessing that it was going to threaten them since Raiden teams up with a version of Justice League Dark. I could identify Constantine and Zatanna, which is where my assumption comes from. It also looked like Swamp Thing in the back, but I couldn’t tell. I had no clue who the other two were.

Overall Score: 1,073,102

It would have been a little more exciting if this concept of an ever-changing top five happened earlier than the last few opponents I’m fighting with. I guess I’ve learned how to play the game. I don’t think so. I’m more sad that Black Canary gets kicked out of the top five because of this.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:

  1. Starfire (1,098,614)
  2. Raiden (1,073,102)
  3. Brainiac (1,064,656)
  4. Catwoman (1,063,054)
  5. Green Arrow (1,057,829)

Until the next battle, where there are only two fighters left.
