Starfire Injustice 2 Battle Simulator

Format: PS4

Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. I think I might actually be sad that these are ending soon. I think I’m actually getting into a groove with this.

This is Starfire’s advanced battle simulator, played on very easy difficulty. She started at a level 3.

Fight 1: Green Lantern

As usual, it’s the Brother Eye level in the Bat Cave.

There was a challenge attached to use 10 jump attacks. I did not complete this challenge because, as established, I don’t use jump attacks. It’s not something I’m proficient at. I’m sure that these moves are useful and if I actually put in the work, I could complete challenges like this.

Starfire isn’t really a hard character to get a handle on. Her laser hands are really powerful, which I like as her weaponry. There weren’t any horrible moves in her move pool that I could find, which is always a plus for me. She does a good amount of damage with most of her attacks. I was wary at the outset because I know how easily the tides can turn. Just because I’m good at the beginning with a character does not mean that I will continue to be good with that character.

I used a super move to end the fight. Starfire leveled up to level 4.

Fight 2: Catwoman

The fight took place in Gorilla City.

There was a challenge attached to use 9 jump attacks. I don’t know why the game thought lowering the previous challenge down by one meant that I was going to complete the challenge. I still didn’t use any jump attacks in the match so it was another challenge not completed.

The fight was still relatively easy. I was still waiting for the other shoe to drop. History has shown me in the simulator that I should not get cocky just because I have a tenuous handle on playing a character. There is always time to find a bitch move that ruins my gameplay. One could argue that her little green spark that she throws would be one. More often than not, it landed behind my opponent. It didn’t hinder my fighting ability like other moves. It wasn’t a weird move that left me vulnerable to other attacks.

I used a super move to end the match.

Fight 3: Wonder Woman

This fight took place in Slaughter Swamp.

Again, the fight wasn’t bad. Starfire was still pretty powerful for me. I did have a slight issue with the outfits that both characters were wearing. I know, particularly for Starfire, their outfits weren’t designed with much coverage in mind in the comics. It’s the age old issue with most female characters in comics, honestly. The outfits bare way more skin than needed for characters that are regularly getting into dangerous fights. There is a distinct lack of usable armor. I know that, in this game, Wonder Woman can unlock gear that covers more of her body. That wasn’t the case for this fight, which annoyed me more than it probably should have.

I used a super move and finished the fight.

Fight 4: Doctor Fate

The fight took place in the Fortress of Solitude.

The easy-going time I had been having fighting with Starfire started to come to an end here. I always think that Doctor Fate can’t hit as hard as he does. For some reason, I always assume that his magic isn’t really damaging. But, it is. Especially when a super move is thrown in there. In this fight, I apparently forgot all of Starfire’s laser hits. Now, I know I’ve been referring to her green beams of lights as lasers. I don’t actually know that they are. Honestly, they might be plasma or some other alien material that she can manipulate. I call them lasers because that’s what they look like to me.

A super move ended the fight.

Fight 5: Bane

The fight started in the Command Center before moving to the Trench Nursery in Atlantis.

Where was this Bane last battle simulator? This one was so nice to fight. He barely put up a fight. In fact, I was almost perfect against him until I went for my super move. He did some minor damage but overall, it was a great fight.

A super move ended the fight. Starfire leveled up to level 5.

Fight 6: Robin

The fight began at the Front Gates before moving to the Cell Block of Arkham Asylum.

What a surprise. Another simulator, another match with Robin. Seriously, how many times has he popped up in these simulators? I will have an answer soon but it seems like too many for the amount of characters in this game.

The fight wasn’t bad. He’s always a little tougher than the average AI character that’s not Brainiac. I don’t know if it’s because of the sword or how he’s programmed but he can always land more hits than the other opponents in the simulator.

I used a super move to end the fight.

Fight 7: Cyborg

The fight started at the Containment Center before moving to the Power Core and then back to the Containment Center again in Red Sun Prison.

Aw, the two Titans are fighting each other. I say this as if I’ve ever seen an episode of Teen Titans. I haven’t. I know who they are. Or more, I know who’s on the main team. I don’t really know much information beyond that. Though, it was strange that Starfire’s taunt for this fight was “The Titans will unite against you!”. Uh, girl, he is one. You just acknowledged that, like, forty seconds ago.

Overall, the fight wasn’t bad. I’m always surprised when I do well in fights because I know how quickly that can turn against me. It’s better to be surprised at myself for doing well than to be hard on myself for not.

A super move ended the fight.

Fight 8: Brainiac

Thank god this was not a horrible match. Yes, his huge tentacle arms are still a major problem. They take out so much health. His ion cannon isn’t great. But I managed to get two level transitions on him. I can usually only get one on this stage. Her lasers were a huge help. There wasn’t a point where I feared I was going to lose, which is nice considering I usually go into his matches thinking I’m going to lose.

I used a super move to end the fight.

The Ending

It’s a little weird to me that Starfire was never a character until the DLC to this game. When she lays out her ending, as well as the various interactions with her opponents, she makes it sound like she’s been a small part in the Insurgency. The ghost of Dick Grayson looms around a large chunk of her story. Considering Cyborg was in both games and Raven was in the first one, it’s weird to me that she’s not mentioned. Then again, neither is Beast Boy save for the mention that he’s been missing for a while. Now, it makes me think from the first game, Raven appears so much older than the Titans would theoretically be. Starfire and Cyborg both appear to be in their early 20’s. Raven looked like she was closer in age to the seasoned heroes. It's a weird thing to get hung up on but that’s what I do. I do miss Raven in this game because I did honestly like using her in the first Injustice game. I understand why she’s not in the story but I do miss her a bit. It’s okay, Starfire has more than made up for it.

Overall Score: 1,098,614

OMG. I really did not think she was going to score that high. Towards the end of the simulator, I was having thoughts that she might break into the top five. I didn’t think she was going to decimate everyone else’s score. I’m honestly still in shock but I’m also delighted that she dethroned Brainiac because I like fighting with her so much more. I’ve fallen a bit in love with her.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:

  1. Starfire (1,098,614)
  2. Brainiac (1,064,656)
  3. Catwoman (1,063,054)
  4. Green Arrow (1,057,829)
  5. Black Canary (1,047,908)

Until the next battle, where anything goes at this point. We’re nearing the end.
