Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. It’s the new trend in gaming. We’ve evolved from written to video back to written again. That’s what I’m telling myself at least.
This review is about Catwoman’s battle simulator. Played on very easy because Catwoman cannot take a hit. More on that below. She started at a level 3.
Before I get into fights, I’m going to have another discussion about character design. As I’ve mentioned before, I do use gear I collect on the characters I’m fighting with. The gear I was using on Catwoman? Well, her hair was clipping out of her cowl. It looked very strange and it took me a few of her intros to notice that it did that. After I was finished with the simulator, I went to the customization section and noticed that the one I selected was the only one that had that issue. At least, of what I had unlocked. It’s just a little bad when I can notice it because I am not a game connoisseur in the least and cannot usually tell when things are messed up in a game.
Fight 1: Captain Cold
Brother Eye in the Bat Cave. Five battles in and I’m already bored of seeing it. It does make me a little curious as to what the equivalent stage is in the Master Battle Simulator. I know Novice is Slaughter Swamp. I don’t know if I’ll ever play the Master Battle Simulator because there’s only so many times you can see the stories play out.Very quickly into this battle, I found the flaw in playing Catwoman. That weird back-bend thing she does. It’s not an attack and it’s not really a dodge. Spoiler alert: I will have issues with her doing this many times throughout the simulator. It takes her so long to get out of that pose that she loses momentum in the fight. I’m sure there is a strategy for using it, but I have no clue what that strategy would be.
He did initiate a clash, which I intentionally lost to preserve my meter. Normally, I would wager in a clash but I usually have less meter than the initiator anyway. Very, very rarely do I win those so I’m just taking the resolve to let my opponent burn theirs so I can use my super move later.
I did use her super move, which I luckily remembered was ranged. It’s a little bit of a pain to try and be as far from your opponent as possible, but hope that they don’t move too much after you initiate the sequence.
Fight 2: Catwoman
Speaking of Slaughter Swamp, we’re back. I don’t mind this stage as much now that I don’t have to see it every single simulator.I find it weird when I have to fight the character I’m playing as. Mostly because they’re going to fight way better than I am. I do like that they acknowledge they are fighting themselves. It was a bit strange in the first game that it wasn’t acknowledged, but at the same time, they didn’t have the same kind of intros as this game does.
I really didn’t have a problem with my copy in this fight. I was so close to having a perfect match before she blew up one the interactions. I do have to give the developers credit in upping the difficulty of the game. Even though I have a lot harder time fighting on the lower difficulties, I do appreciate not always having an easy time fighting the AI. I could always get at least one perfect in the first Injustice’s battle mode.
I used the super move and ended the match. Catwoman went up to level 4.
Fight 3: Swamp Thing
This was in Black Adam’s Palace in Kahndaq.Swamp Thing got some major hits on me this round. I will fully admit, I’m not great at playing fragile characters. Or slow characters. Or magic characters. Or most characters. I was glad to see the AI do the weird hand vine thing multiple times though. As long as I’m not the only one with that problem, we’re good.
I used the super move and finished the fight.
Fight 4: Gorilla Grodd
This fight took place in Gorilla City, which is fitting for my opponent. He had a challenge attached to use 6 medium attacks. Her medium attacks are not great. The only one I could do was where she scratched twice and then cracked her whip, which knocked him down. The problem was that he would get pushed too far and then hit me while I was trying to get back to him. I get really focused when I have these types of challenges and that ultimately hurts the character I’m playing as.
He did attempt his super move, which I somehow blocked. I just happened to be fortunate enough to already be in the block stance when that happened.
My super move hit him and we finished the fight.
Fight 5: Enchantress
The stage was the Containment Center in Red Sun Prison. She had a challenge attached to use 7 light attacks. What fun to have those two back to back. At least they were challenges I could do, instead of ones I couldn’t.
I do like Catwoman’s character power, as long as I get enough scratches to use it. It hits the opponent nicely into a corner usually. In this case, it allowed me to hit a level transition the Power Core section.
I ended the match with the super move and Catwoman moved up to level 5.
Fight 6: Batman
This one took place in Joker’s Playground.I really hate fighting against Batman. Mostly because I can’t fight with Batman. AI Batman always seems to be able to use his moves effectively and I can barely get Batman to do any combo I need him to do. He kept using his grappling gun, which annoyed me to no end. I could never seem to escape it. I had to basically stay in block position the entire match.
I used the super move on him and ended the match.
Fight 7: Harley Quinn
This fight took place in the Command Center in Atlantis. The character intro here was great. I did miss part of it though. I liked that they referenced the Gotham City Sirens, but I missed who Harley named before Barbara. I think it was Ivy, which would make sense because that’s the comic trio of the Sirens but I can’t be sure.
The fight wasn’t insanely hard, which I was fine with. Seven battles in and I still could not find a rhythm in fighting with Catwoman. All because of the stupid back-bend move.
I used the super move and ended the match.
Fight 8: Brainiac
This bitch. It’s literally what I said when his picture popped up before you get to the level. And he was a bitch.
I knew going in that I was going to have a difficult time fighting with her. She doesn’t do much damage. She can’t take a lot of damage. She has speed, which doesn’t matter with Brainiac’s tentacles and lasers anyway.
I am proud of myself to knocked him down to one bar while still have one and a half bars myself. He then proceeded to pummel me. He did the ground tentacle and his super move back to back. I call shenanigans a little bit on him hitting me with his super move. I was in block position when the tentacle came out but I guess I let up on the button a second too early and he grabbed me. All and all, he knocked me down to half a bar left of health.
I did get my super move on him and finished the fight.
Overall Score: 1,063,054
She only got that high because I landed every single super move in the simulator.

The Ending
I really don’t like that so much of her ending was focused on her and Bruce. I get that they have a relationship but it’s only ever in her stories that it’s the focus. It’s never a focus in Batman’s. I do appreciate that they didn’t give the two a happily ever after story and that she realized that she couldn’t be true to herself while being in a relationship with him. It just didn’t feel like it was the ending to defeating Brainiac. It just felt like a continuation of their normal comics relationship.Overall Score: 1,063,054
