Title: Injustice 2 (Legendary Edition)
Released: May 11, 2017
Format: PS4
Played before?: Yes
Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. Because we all know, reading is fun! As well as no one needs to see how badly I play. Let’s leave that to the words.
It’s another very easy battle simulator, this time with Cyborg. These intros aren’t going to get any less boring wherein I just reiterate the same information in every single battle. Every single one.
Cyborg started at level 4, if only because he was playable in the actual story. I’ve stated previously that I have played the first Injustice game as well, so luckily, Cyborg seems to fight very similar to the first game.
Fight 1: Cheetah
Yay, the Brother Eye level. Again. I don’t understand why it’s programmed like that. Why in the world would you make every single simulator start with the same level? I understand why the last battle is always in the same place, but not the beginning one. Especially because there are enough levels without needing to repeat, at least with the advanced simulator.I’m four for four in fighting Cheetah in this review series. Once again, she was actually a kind of difficult fight. All throughout the novice simulator and at least in the advanced Hellboy, she was super easy. Apparently, word’s out and her claws have been sharpened.
I hit the level transition over to the Armory and quickly dispatched her with a super move.
It wasn’t too much of an issue, because I managed to just keep hitting her. It was around here I was tentatively okay with playing Cyborg. I don’t know that I was doing any of his combo moves but I could figure out the basics. I also explored his character power, which is to create a mother box. I feel that the mother boxes do different attacks, but the only attack it ever did for me was to have a little bomb go blow up my opponent. I may be misremembering other fights with him or if he can create mother boxes independent of his character power.
I did use my super move, albeit a little too close in her health bar to have the actual move play out.
Harley’s always an interesting character to see pop up because the opposing characters in the simulator always use alternate shaders. Harley has some very bright and contrasting ones as opposed to most everyone else who has twelve variations of brown and black.
Level transition was hit. It would have been cool if the cages that were hit also contained some recognizable villains, but I understand that it would have been pointless for such a short moment. I didn’t get to use the super move to end the fight.
Raiden wasn’t bad to fight against. I hit the level transition to the theater front. It’s at this point I realize that I might be a little too good for very easy difficulty, but I know I’m not good enough or patient enough to deal with the characters on easy difficulty. I honestly have had a lot of trouble with just moving up to the easy difficulty, so I’ll stick with the easier option.
I didn’t hit a super move on him to end the fight, but Cyborg leveled up to level 5 at the end of the match.
Fight 2: Enchantress
The stage started in the Ace o’ Clubs. Now, where Cheetah is someone who pops up quite frequently in the battle simulator, Enchantress does not. That makes her a little bit of a wild card because I only know her attacks from my playing of her. And trust me, I don’t know how to play her.It wasn’t too much of an issue, because I managed to just keep hitting her. It was around here I was tentatively okay with playing Cyborg. I don’t know that I was doing any of his combo moves but I could figure out the basics. I also explored his character power, which is to create a mother box. I may be misremembering other fights with him or if he can create mother boxes independent of his character power.
I did use my super move, albeit a little too close in her health bar to have the actual move play out.
Fight 3: Harley Quinn
This was at the Front Gates of Arkham Asylum. Different, as it usually starts the stage in the Cell Block area instead.Harley’s always an interesting character to see pop up because the opposing characters in the simulator always use alternate shaders.
Fight 4: Raiden
It started in the Empire Theater Prop Room in Gotham. This one had a challenge attached to use 7 meter burn special moves. I have no clue what that even means, so I did not complete this challenge. Did not even execute one of them. I am always willing to know what the hell to do, so help is always welcome.Raiden wasn’t bad to fight against. I hit the level transition to the theater front. It’s at this point I realize that I might be a little too good for very easy difficulty, but I know I’m not good enough or patient enough to deal with the characters on easy difficulty. I didn’t hit a super move on him to end the fight, but Cyborg leveled up to level 5 at the end of the match.
Fight 5: Scarecrow
This one took place in Gorilla City. The opening interaction between Cyborg and Scarecrow was really strange because Cyborg called Scarecrow a troll. Because that’s what he would be on the internet and that’s just really strange to me. I feel it was put in there to act like the developers were cool and knew things. Instead, it sounded really cringy. The fight, once again, was relatively easy. He got three hits on me. I got all the hits on him. The only strange thing was that I might have accidentally meter burned and I don’t even know how. All I know was that I had a full meter bar to use a super move at the end of the fight and when I went to use it, I proceeded to only have three bars full. I don’t know what happened, but I absolutely know that I did not learn anything about meter burns.
Fight 6: Superman
This one took place in Command Center in Atlantis. There was a challenge attached to use no jump attacks, which I managed to complete. Usually, I stop thinking for a minute and go airborne when I have this challenge. Mostly because I want the level transition. I managed to do good this time.Since I couldn’t switch sides, I could do a level transition. Superman also was not a hard fight. Fighting against him isn’t completely the same as the first Injustice game, but it has similar elements. I always joked to myself in the first game that the opponent before Superman was harder than Superman himself in classic battle. It was only because I had to play against him so many times that I started to understand his moves.
I did get my super move in which ended the match.
Fight 7: Sub-Zero
It’s the Fortress of Solitude stage for this match. I will say that Sub-Zero was an actual challenge. Mostly because he kept using his stupid ice klones and freezing me every few seconds. Even without those, he got a fair few hits on me. I also did not realize that he had a normal looking face under his mask. I had never seen him without it because I know nothing about Mortal Kombat.I used a super move and ended the fight.
Fight 8: Brainiac
I will say this: he only knocked me down half a bar. That’s really good for me in a fight against Brainiac. His only major hit was from the tentacle that comes from the ground. Or maybe it’s the ceiling. I can’t really tell. I hit the easy level transition with him, once I stopped knocking him to the ground.I used the super move and Cyborg moved up to level 6.
The Ending
I can’t really tell the motives for Cyborg using Brainiac’s contraption. Is it for himself, which seems like a decent motive, or for Superman, which isn’t really? Anytime the ending involves the character using Brainiac’s contraption, it’s not typically a positive one. Also, it feels like the Teen Titans were just haphazardly thrown in for his ending. I understand that it was telegraphed throughout the story that one of the main reasons to Cyborg going over to Superman was the loss of the Titans but I don’t understand how he gets them back. They weren’t taken in the collection on Brainiac’s ship. Most of them were killed aside from Starfire and Raven. I do understand Starfire’s appearance is more complicated in how she’s alive but it’s the base point that I’m getting at.Overall Score: 1,030,601
At least I don’t have to say I did the best with Swamp Thing anymore.
