Blue Beetle Injustice 2 Battle Simulator

Media type: Video Game
Title: Injustice 2 (Legendary Edition)
Released: May 11, 2017
Format: PS4
Played before?: Yes

Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. It’s a cheaper way to talk about video games. No need for video capture, editing software, audio recording. Just plain old typed words.

This review is about Blue Beetle’s battle simulator. It’s on the very easy difficulty, which wasn’t as bad this time. He started at level 3.

Fight 1: Captain Cold

Brother Eye. Bat Cave. Got it.

I was surprised at how easily I picked up fighting with Blue Beetle. I will state this early on: this review will be a bit boring because of how easily I fought with this character. I didn’t really have a hard time against any of the characters.

I managed to do two level transitions on this stage. Why I decided to do a second level transition back to Brother Eye, I don’t know. Wait, yes I do. The points. Especially because I didn’t get a super move to finish the fight.

Blue Beetle leveled up to level 4.

Fight 2: Scarecrow

This took place in the Ace o’ Clubs in Metropolis. I didn’t manage to get the level transition in this stage.

The fight wasn’t terribly hard. I managed to throw the drunk guy into Scarecrow, which doesn’t usually happen. Usually, the drunk guy gets thrown over my opponent. As horrible as it is, I really do like that as an environmental interaction.

No super move to finish the fight.

Fight 3: Deadshot

This fight took place in the Empire Theater Prop Room in Gotham. I did manage to do a level transition.

There was a challenge to use 7 jump attacks. I managed 2. Jump attacks aren’t usually part of my play style. I will jump but only to switch sides with the opponent, well, attempt to switch. How I managed two attacks is a bit of a mystery to me.

Deadshot did manage to get a few hits because I was distracted by trying to do any jump attacks against him. I didn’t feel threatened by this. I clearly had the upper hand against him.

I used his super move and ended the match.

Fight 4: Gorilla Grodd

This took place in the Fortress of Solitude.

Grodd definitely got some hits against me. It was slightly hard to hit him, which is kind of strange considering how large of a character he is. It was here that I attempted to figure out what Blue Beetle’s character power was. I don’t know what it is, except that he has his beetle sword things out the entire time.

Grodd blocked my super move, but I ended up winning the fight.

Fight 5: Starfire

The level was the Joker’s Playground.

Once again, not a hard fight. There was a challenge attached to do no jump attacks. That was super simple for me. I completed it because I have absolutely no clue what his jump attacks are anyway.

In a rare move, the two of us activated our super moves at the same time. I activated it before her, so I managed to finish her off with my move.

Blue Beetle went to level 5.

Fight 6: Sub-Zero

This took place in Gorilla City.

At this point, I still have no clue what Blue Beetle’s character power is. The only thing I learned was that I could toggle between the two states. I have looked up what his character power is supposed to do. I have to say, it didn’t seem to make a difference whether I was using the little swords or not as to the amount of damage I was doing.

There was nothing really special about this fight. It ended the same as most fights.

Fight 7: Blue Beetle

This started in the Front Gates of Arkham Asylum. I did manage a level transition to the Cell Block stage.

Usually, when I have to fight the character I’m playing as, I’m nervous. The AI can always do the character’s moves better than me. Not in this fight. I didn’t find it difficult at all to play against myself. I did think it was a little funny in the character intro that mine thought the other was cosplaying. Only problem I had was that the AI had a way cooler costume than I had on. Okay, I did have a little bit of a problem with the cosplay comment, but that was only because it seemed a little cheesy for him to say it. Upon reading a little bio about him, it makes sense for the character but it just seems weird.

Fight 8: Brainiac

When he popped up in the loading screen, I just whispered under my breath, “I’m not ready for this.” I then proceeded to pummel his ass. Like, he only knocked me down half of one health bar. I was stunned. I never remembered being great at fighting with Blue Beetle, but I’m apparently kind of good at it. The character is really great at continuous hits, which is perfect for fighting against Brainiac. The more you hit him, the less he can do his stupid moves.

The Ending

For a character that apparently loves heroes, you would think he would have a better Batman impression. Too high pitched. I didn’t mind his ending too much. It was just nice to see a superhero that actually has family. A full family at that. I’m sure in the comics something happens to them, but I’m not focused on that.

Overall Score: 970,124

For being able to fight with him really well, he only squeaks into the top 5. Hitting those super moves at the end really do make a difference.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:

  1. Catwoman (1,063,054)
  2. Cyborg (1,030,601)
  3. Swamp Thing (1,027,787)
  4. Sub-Zero (991,455)
  5. Blue Beetle (970,124)
Until the next battle, which I can already tell will be a difficult one.
