Gorilla Grodd Injustice 2 Battle Simulator

Media type: Video Game
Title: Injustice 2 (Legendary Edition)
Released: May 11, 2017
Format: PS4
Played before?: Yes

Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. If anything, the game provides some catharsis to my daily frustrations. I’m looking for the positives here.

This is Gorilla Grodd’s advanced battle simulator, played on very easy difficulty. Grodd started at a level 3.

Fight 1: Blue Beetle

As usual, it’s the Brother Eye level in the Bat Cave.

This fight had a challenge attached to use 3 environmental interactions. I managed to only use two in the fight because most of the fight took place on the bridge where the only interactions are the light fixtures.

Grodd is a bit cumbersome to fight with. His punches weren’t connecting. His move pool seems slightly limited to various versions of punching and kicking. It makes sense since he’s a gorilla and doesn’t use weaponry, he’s not going to have a robust move pool. At least, a move pool I can utilize to my advantage.

I wasn’t able to use a super move to end the fight.

Fight 2: Black Adam

This fight took place at Joker’s Playground.

My major move issue with Grodd is the move where he jumps over the opponent. The further I got in the simulator, the move actually became less of an issue. I did (kind of) learn to use the move. But in this fight, Grodd was constantly going back and forth over Black Adam. I can see how it can be useful, but at this point, I couldn’t use it to my advantage.

There was no super move to end the fight. Grodd leveled up to level 4.

Fight 3: Catwoman

The fight took place in Slaughter Swamp.

A major positive for Grodd is that he hits hard. While I was trying to figure out Grodd’s attacks, it was nice that any attack I did use caused damage. He was still doing the jumping attack but it was less frequent this battle. Honestly, the fight wasn’t completely terrible.

I used a super move and ended the fight.

Fight 4: Poison Ivy

This fight took place in the Empire Theatre Prop Room.

Here is where the tides turned and I found that Grodd wasn’t as horrible a fighter as I had feared in the beginning. I managed to go for one of Ivy’s health bars without getting hit. As I’ve stated in other simulators, I do wish the simulator gave points for a half perfect match. It did in the first game, but I understand that the game added more ways to get points. It would make sense to eliminate half measures, so that the game doesn’t have to track so much.

A super move was used to end the fight.

Fight 5: Swamp Thing

The fight took place in the Fortress of Solitude.

This fight was very simple. I punched Swamp Thing a lot. He got one or two hits against me. The fight really wasn’t memorable or exciting. I was more mad that I kept getting stages that didn’t have level transitions. For the last few simulators, I’ve really had issues hitting the transitions. I don’t know why because I’m usually decent at it.

There was no super move to end the fight.

Fight 6: Raphael

This fight took place in Gorilla City.

Again, I went for one of Raphael’s health bars without getting hit. I had been doing really well until Raphael initiated a clash. After that, he started getting into the fight. Granted, he was getting slammed into the animal statues a lot before the clash. Not a very interesting fight overall.

I used a super move to end the fight. Gorilla Grodd leveled up to level 5.

Fight 7: Firestorm

The fight took place in Black Adam’s Palace in Kahndaq.

There was a challenge attached to this fight to use 10 heavy attacks. Finally, a challenge that was super easy to complete. I appreciate when I understand the challenges.

I really wasn’t expecting to be kind of good using Grodd. I was really wary in the first few fights, between not being able to damage efficiently and the jumping move. Once I got a rhythm, I was dominating the fights. I didn’t really sustain much damage after those first few fights, surprisingly. Usually, the ending battles are tougher than the earlier battle but that was not the case this time.

There was no super move to end the fight.

Fight 8: Brainiac

Even though I wasn’t struggling with the later fights, I always dread having to fight Brainiac. I knew that the jumping move was going to mess me up. Yet, it wasn’t a horrible fight at all. He only managed to knock me down a half bar of health. It’s bad when even Brainiac’s fight was relatively easy. I don’t have much to say, except that I beat him.

The Ending

Of course Grodd takes over the worlds with his gorilla crew. That’s really obvious from how he treats everyone. Also, considering he lives somewhere called Gorilla City, it’s not surprising. I don’t know that much of Grodd and he’s not interesting to me.

I honestly wish I could’ve made this simulator more interesting. I don’t have the special gift to make the uninteresting interesting. I’m still learning how to write and talk about games.

Overall Score: 894,333

He did not do well when it came to the score. It seems the better I fight with them, the worse they do. There are fighters who have lost a battle and scored better.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:

  1. Catwoman (1,063,054)
  2. Green Arrow (1,057,829)
  3. Black Canary (1,047,908)
  4. Doctor Fate (1,040,263)
  5. Cyborg (1,030,601)

Until the next battle, where I learn to talk about video games. Hopefully.
