Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. The character is fitting for how most people probably feel reading me playing games. Full of fear that someone could really be that terrible.
The character in question is Scarecrow in a very easy advanced battle simulator. He starts out at a level 3.
I’ve always felt that Scarecrow was a weird choice to add into the game. He’s not a Batman villain known for his physical combat. I feel that he doesn’t fit with the tone of the game. He deals with psychological aspects, which defeats the purpose of a fighting game. It works in a game like Arkham Asylum because it uses different combat techniques. Yet, I feel Scarecrow does work as a fighter. I think they did a really good job adapting him for the game.
Fight 1: Firestorm
We’re in the Brother Eye level of the Bat Cave. What’s new? There was a challenge attached to use seven ducking attacks. I was able to complete this challenge easily.
The hook is a different type of gadget to use. From what I can remember, no other character has a gadget that functions like this hook. I was a little unsteady using the hook. I was managing to get hits with it but I had some issues gauging the distance of the chain. In hindsight, this was a really minor problem for me.
I used a super move and ended the fight.
Fight 2: Batman
This fight took place at Memorial Station in Metropolis. So, is it open knowledge in this universe that Batman is Bruce Wayne? Because Scarecrow definitely called him out during the introduction. It’s been so long since I’ve played the first Injustice game that I can’t remember every detail of the story. Did Clark out Bruce as Batman when he captured the main universe Batman? I vaguely remember the mugshot looking picture of Bruce without the cowl but I can’t remember what was said in the report. It’s just strange because none of the other villains really comment on Batman being Bruce. I understand anyone in the Justice League doing it because they knew already. When it comes from a Batman villain, it just seems strange because that’s one of the most closely guarded, open secrets in Gotham.
I only focus so much on this small interaction because the fight really amounted to nothing. There weren't any major issues while fighting which was great for me.
I used a super move to end the match. Scarecrow leveled up to level 4.
Fight 3: Wonder Woman
This fight took place in the Fortress of Solitude.I was definitely a little shocked at how well I was actually doing fighting with Scarecrow. Just from the look of Scarecrow, I felt that his physical attacks were going to be weak and I was going to fail at using the hook. Both of those actually turned out false. The hook was not a horrible gadget to use and even his physical attacks did decent damage. Since he’s also a frail-looking character, I thought he wasn’t going to be able to take damage either. I was proved wrong with that too. Granted, I didn’t get hit super often so I don’t know the amount of damage he could’ve actually taken.
A super move was used to end the fight.
Fight 4: Deadshot
The fight took place in the Command Center of Atlantis.By this point, I really liked the hook as a gadget. I almost wish there were more gadgets that functioned like the hook rather than a gun. I get that guns are a much more plausible gadget for most of these characters to use, but I never can get a handle on them. I like non-traditional gadgetry better. It’s better for the fighting style I use than guns.
There was no super move to end this fight.
Fight 5: Black Canary
This fight took place in the Rock of Eternity in Kahndaq. It’s my girl! She’s still my girl even when I have to fight against her. Man, I’ve really fallen hard for Dinah. I just really love her as a character and a fighter. Just as long as I never fight with her again to preserve my memory of her.
Oh, yeah, Scarecrow. Around here, I started to realize that Scarecrow switches sides very easily. Thankfully, it wasn’t awful to reorient myself to where I switched but it was still annoying. It’s why I lacked on getting level transitions in this simulator. It was mostly whenever Scarecrow did the charge attack that he ended up switching but only if the opponent was already down. Not the biggest issue I’ve ever faced with a character. The hook still saves me.
I used a super move to end the match.
Fight 6: Raiden
The fight took place in the Empire Theatre Prop Room in Gotham. For as much as I bitch and moan about Raiden’s lightning, it wasn’t an issue with this fight. The hook was proving all-powerful for me. That meant I started to get wary with how well I was fighting with Scarecrow. Just because I’m good in a few matches doesn’t mean the AI won’t ramp up it’s technique in other fights. Basically, I'm always scared for the Brainiac fight.
A super move ended the fight. Scarecrow leveled up to level 5.
Fight 7: Catwoman
This fight took place in the Power Core of Red Sun Prison. There was a challenge attached to use two uppercuts. Once again, a challenge I managed to complete. I think the simulator is a little tired of me not completing challenges.
Catwoman did manage to hit me with her super move. We met majestically in the air. The one time I actually jumped is when I’m playing against a character with a ranged super move. Granted, I was already in the middle of jumping when she activated the move, but still. All that meant was that I retaliated with my super move and ended the fight.
Fight 8: Brainiac
Every time I fight Brainiac, I do the best I can. His AI moves are really random. I never know when he’s going to shoot the lasers, or summon the tentacles, or send the electric shocks. Sometimes, I go matches without seeing one of those moves. Or it could be like this match where he used all of them. Only the tentacles and shocks did damage to Scarecrow but those amounted to a full health bar. Overall, I still defeated him relatively easily. I want a hook gadget for more characters. I’m actually kind of good with it.The Ending
It makes sense. Scarecrow’s main mission is to control fear. For everyone to live their worst nightmares. So, him wanting to do that to the rest of the worlds on Brainiac’s ship is completely in line with the character. I’m glad they didn’t force any of the other characters into his ending. Considering he was pretty far removed from most of the cast in the main story, it wouldn’t have made sense for any of them to appear. Especially because he’s not terrorizing the Injustice world. He’s just terrorizing whatever worlds had been taken by Brainiac.Overall Score: 1,016,968
He actually got a decent score for me doing well with him. Usually, when there’s a character I have a relatively easy time using, their score tends to not be great. He did okay. Not top five, but not even close to the worst.
Top Five Ranking of Characters:
- Catwoman (1,063,054)
- Green Arrow (1,057,829)
- Black Canary (1,047,908)
- Doctor Fate (1,040,263)
- Cyborg (1,030,601)
Until the next battle, where Scarecrow leaves but the fear of my bad skills are still there.
