Hey peeps and welcome to a written playthrough of Injustice 2, specifically the Battle Simulator. Writing is making a comeback. No, seriously. Let me have my fantasy.

It’s time for Supergirl’s battle simulator, on very easy difficulty. She started out at a level 5.

I really dread whenever I have to play Supergirl. I cannot grasp any move of hers at all. I was so scared I was going to have to play as her against Brainiac in the story mode because I knew I was going to be at that fight for a while. I cannot get her to do more than her simple punches. Most likely, I am actually doing combos but they’re her weak combos. In story mode, I don’t think I won any of her fights on the first try. I may say I’m bad at playing some of these characters, but I am truly terrible at playing Supergirl.

Fight 1: Doctor Fate

Brother Eye. Bat Cave. I at least got the level transition down to the Armory this time.

It only took a few seconds for me to dread fighting with Supergirl. I didn’t do horribly against Doctor Fate. It took awhile for him to get one hit on me. This would not be indicative of any of the other fights with her. Since this wasn’t an eventful fight, the meter never fully filled.

No super move to end the fight, but we win.

Fight 2: Poison Ivy

This took place in Memorial Station in Metropolis. No level transition this fight.

A challenge was attached to use 7 ducking attacks. I did complete this challenge but not without a lot of damage to my person. Ivy got a lot of hits on me and quickly. She ended up getting first hit in the fight, which is quite rare for me. Even being bad at this game, I can get a first hit at least. Ivy pummeled me with all of her plant attacks. I don’t even think it was because I was distracted by the challenge. I just couldn’t get a substantial hit.

I used the super move and ended the fight.

Fight 3: Swamp Thing

It’s Slaughter Swamp with Swamp Thing. I always appreciate the matching of character and stage.

I was really worried going into the character intro that every single one of Supergirl’s intros was going to involve Superman. Should there be an Injustice 3, I would really enjoy seeing Supergirl as a separate entity from Superman. Obviously, there is a connection, but I don’t want her entire character to be about Superman. I mean, I would rather she have better handling but the story is important too. Thankfully, only most of them deal with Superman and this one didn’t actually didn’t mention him at all.

I mostly put the above paragraph here because the fight wasn’t eventful at all. I didn’t get a full meter during the fight so no super move to end the fight.

Fight 4: Captain Cold

This started out at the Empire Theater in Gotham and moved to the Prop Room.

Here is where my biggest issue fighting with Supergirl became apparent. Her fly-jumping. Where most characters don’t really switch sides easily, she switches too easily with this move. Most of her jump attacks make her fly in the air instead, which messes up the rhythm of the fight. It’s how most attacks against me happen. I keep being in the air and they keep hitting me.

I did get a super move to win the fight. Supergirl (somehow) levels up to level 6.

Fight 5: Aquaman

This took place in the Fortress of Solitude.

The fight had a challenge attached to not use a super move in the match. Do you know how hard it was to complete this challenge? I did but spoiler alert: I regret picking the challenge over the super move.

Once again, I hate Aquaman’s trident attacks. They are relentless as well as the weird little octopus arm that comes from the ground. Obviously, I’m not going to question the logistics of an octopus arm coming out of the ground but it is a little strange.

Even though I couldn’t use my super move, I didn’t let him use his either. I blocked his super move just in time.

I (regretfully) did not use a super move, but did win the match.

Fight 6: Wonder Woman

This took place in the Power Core in Red Sun Prison.

It was here that I started to worry about fighting with Supergirl. The fight was tough. I almost thought that she was going to take out one of my health bars. I could not land hits. I will say that the little fly-jumping did help me in this one instance. I happened to be in the air when she activated her super move, so she missed. I mean, I missed with my super move too but that was my error. I activated it a second too early and Wonder Woman was still down from an attack.

I still managed to win the fight.

Fight 7: Leonardo

The stage was Gorilla City.

The character intro was interesting. Supergirl offers to help Leonardo get back to his universe. She then proceeds to beat the hell out of him. I mean, it’s a choice. They weren’t antagonistic toward each other. Sometimes the intros don’t make any sense.
For once, the AI was not in love with the environmental interactions in this stage. I think it was because it was in love with sending the various turtles to attack me instead. Most hits against me were from every turtle but Leonardo.

I did hit him with the super move and ended the match. Side note: I’ve never really seen the turtles defeated so it was slightly hilarious to me to just see the turtle shell on the ground at the end.

Fight 8: Brainiac

I WAS SO CLOSE! I almost did it! From that, I obviously lost the first match against Brainiac. I knew going in that it was going to be really close. And it was. He blocked my super move in the end and then hit me with his stupid attacks. Like, we were neck and neck and he just beat me out.

I redeemed myself in the second match. I’m 100% convinced that the AI is way easier when you replay a match. I knocked Brainiac down to one health bar without taking a hit. That is unprecedented for this character and especially against Brainiac.

I just can’t get over how close I was the first match.

The Ending

It’s actually kind of...boring. I do appreciate that Superman wasn’t a factor in her ending until the end of the little story. I would’ve thought the defeat of Brainiac would have been a little bigger of a factor than it was. It focused more on restoring the worlds, which I understand. It just didn’t make for a compelling story.

Overall Score: 844,347

Not even close to the top 5. I’m putting it out there now: she’ll be at the bottom of the overall standings list. That one will actually make sense.

Top Five Ranking of Characters:

  1. Catwoman (1,063,054)
  2. Green Arrow (1,057,829)
  3. Doctor Fate (1,040,263)
  4. Cyborg (1,030,601)
  5. Swamp Thing (1,027,787)

Until the next battle where I’ll just be happy to never have to play as Supergirl again. (I’m sure I will though).
